Can a linear burner anchor a room divider?
Plan the view from both zones—without confusing a two-sided composition with a certified two-sided appliance.
An open-plan room often needs definition without a full-height wall. A low divider with a real linear flame can visually connect a lounge and dining area, but the project must begin with sightlines, operating access and non-combustible construction. The current SXRX Stainless Steel Bioethanol Burner Insert is a 304 stainless steel drop-in manual burner with a sliding lid and included hook tool. Its seven live variants range from 400 × 300 × 115 mm to 1000 × 300 × 115 mm.
Start with two sightline drawings
Draw a simple section from the main seat in each zone. Record eye level, divider height, nearby furniture and any screen or reflective surface. The goal is not identical views; one side may receive the longer, calmer view while the other sees the flame as a passing accent.
Choose one deliberate operating side
The SXRX sliding lid is adjusted and closed with its hook tool. Give the operator a clear approach from one designated side, with the tool stored nearby but away from children and guests. Do not design a layout that invites someone to reach across the flame or operate through a narrow decorative opening.
Let furniture define the visual boundary
Keep the principal seats aligned with the flame, not the back of a tall sofa.
Avoid placing table decor or serving paths where they compete with operating access.
Protect the divider from bags, coats and people cutting too close to the flame zone.
Use burner length to support—not dictate—the composition
The live variants share a listed 300 mm depth and 115 mm height while offering 400–1000 mm lengths. Select only after coordinating the whole divider, furniture spans and required construction.
